Reading List
Various political writings I've read and recommend.
Marx/Engels
- The Communist Manifesto -- A very brief pamphlet about communism and encouraging revolution.
- Capital Vol. 1 (Partial) -- Marx's biggest work. I've only read about 200 of the 1000 pages, but it's very good. Some parts are very easy to understand, others feel very technical.
- Principles of Communism -- A great introduction to basic communist theory, in a question-and-answer format.
- The German Ideology -- A counter to many of the ideas current at the time in Germany, and an introduction and explanation of concepts such as historical materialism. Only book one is really necessary, the other books just seem to focus on calling other thinkers virgins, Marx really does this.
Gerrard Winstanley
- True Levelers Standard Advanced -- A brief manifesto, mostly describing the religious basis for Communism.
- The Law of Freedom (partial) -- A comprehensive description of a Christian Communist society, in both practical and theoretical aspects.
Lenin
- State and Revolution (partial) -- A work discussing the role of the state in revolution, if it should be avoided or interacted with, what a communist government system would look like, etc.
Kaczynski
- The Unabomber's Manifesto -- A criticism of the role of technology in reducing individual freedom, as well as of various social movements.
Bordiga
- Auschwitz, or the Great Alibi -- A great work discussing the material incentives for the German bourgeoisie for the holocaust, as well as the Allied Powers' simultaneous apathy to stopping the holocaust and usage of it as moral leverage.
Kollontai
- Prostitution and Ways of Fighting It -- A brief essay describing the rise of prostitution, the causes of it, and why it isn't liberating but rather enslaving.
